Marine Geoscientist

OARS is hiring a Marine Geoscientist to join our team in Houston, TX. This position is full-time and primarily working in our headquarter office, with a hybrid work schedule that allows working remotely from home on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist to develop in-house data QC, processing, and interpretation workflows
  • Perform data QC, processing, and interpretation of sidescan sonar (SSS), magnetometer (Mag), transverse gradiometer (TVG), sub-bottom profiler (SBP), and 2D/3D high-resolution (HR) and ultra-high-resolution (UHR) seismic
  • Perform integration of geophysical, geotechnical, and geological datasets for ground model generation and updates
  • Prepare project deliverables to meet client specifications and project requirements
  • Write and prepare technical reports and give project presentations to clients
  • Interact with clients regarding project deliverables, progress status, and technical issues
  • Assist to prepare cost estimates and project proposal documents for client tender packages
  • Assist to track and perform project cost analysis in comparison to proposed project budgets
  • Work within a team to select qualified personnel to staff offshore project assignments
  • Perform other tasks and duties as directed by manager

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geosciences, Geophysics, or related discipline and 5+ years of work experience in marine geophysical data processing and analysis
  • Background in technical requirements of field data acquisition, processing, interpretation, reporting, and project deliverables for marine geophysical surveys
  • Proficiency with software packages such as RadExPro, Kingdom, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, and Global Mapper
  • Able to work on strict reporting timelines and deadlines
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Valid passport for international travel
  • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record
